Isaiah Joseph was introduced into our family about 7:30 AM Tuesday morning.
Really, we our expectation was a girl. I guess it was wishful thinking, but there was an extra “package” when our little package was delivered.
Names for us are important. It started with our first, just making sure his name was from the Bible. Over time, it has morphed into more. We believe, like names in the Bible times, that their name is their mission.
Isaiah Joseph was the only name that came to either of us for a boy. In fact, I so thought it was a girl, I could never remember the name Nichole had said!
After he was born and as I thought about the name, I like the similarities between Isaiah and Joseph. Both men were key advisors to kings. Joseph in Egypt with Pharaoh. Isaiah in Judah with Hezekiah.
Both men saved their respective nations. Joseph saved two–Egypt & Israel. They were not the ones in charge, but they still had amazing impact!
So, like our other 3 boys, I’ll tell Isaiah his mission twice a week. I’ll say something like, “You know what? You will be used by God to be advisors to kings.”
Do I think it will be literally a king? Who knows. But God could use him to be key advisors in communities or business or a church or…
Literally their names mean…
Isaiah=Jehovah has saved.
Joseph=Jehovah has added.
He certainly has added!
As you think about your life and those around you, how are you speaking into people about the mission that God has for them?
