The kids with the most confident actions are those who have the most secure identity.
Where do they get their identity?
Their secure identity must come from their parents.
So it is no wonder that at the first public action of Jesus, God the Father showed up at the moment securing Jesus’ identity…
This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. Matthew 3:17.
God secures Jesus’ identity and thus giving Jesus a platform to live confidently as God’s Son.
What does God want to do in our life through this story?
He wants to secure our identity as his adopted sons & daughters. Then he wants that identity to lead us into confident actions.
But our actions aren’t always pleasing. Is he pleased with us then?
Let’s go back to our earthly parent/child relationships. Even though our child may do something that isn’t pleasing, we must still speak into and secure their identity as our son or daughter. In fact, it is most important that we speak into their identity during a time their actions aren’t pleasing.
God wants you to act confidently. Let him secure your identity as his son or daughter.
From Matthew 3:13-17.
